Album Review: Slowdive - Slowdive

StarStarStarStar

"Slowdive's return provides a masterful lesson to their legions of bastard offspring."

More Slowdive Slowdive Profile

This should not be possible.

Picking up so seamlessly from 1995's Pygmalion should be a feat beyond the capabilities of mortals. Evidently, the three years Slowdive have spent gigging since their initial reformation have paid off handsomely. From the entrancingly undulating intro of Slomo, through to some of their best, hymn-like songs, such as the dreamily propulsive Star Roving, it's clear their classic hallmarks remain undiminished by time. While not exactly reinventing the wheel, Slowdive's return provides a masterful lesson to their legions of bastard offspring.
