Album Review: SIXX: AM - Modern Vintage

Originally composing songs to complement Nikki Sixx’s autobiographies, Sixx: AM prove they can slay without Sixx’s words as springboard on Modern Vintage.

Celestial choirs are offset by James Michael’s piercing vocals, crystal diction barking lyrics in yo’ face (Gotta Get It Right). Piano flourishes and menacing riffs underscore Get Ya Some (“And a boy with a mask and a knife stumbles in with a whore”). Sixx: AM do Drive by The Cars? Take me there! The album title speaks volumes: while sounding like they’ve always existed within your vinyl collection, this set of tracks won’t gather dust.
