An energetic showing from the returning pop-rockers.
This freezing autumn Adelaide night needed something to warm it up and thanks to Short Stack, that’s exactly what we got.
From the get go, Short Stack lead singer, Shaun Diviney put on a real performance for the crowd. Instead of focusing solely on the music part of the show, Diviney interacted with the audience on a personal level, introducing the other band members while being witty, funny and charming. The audience, all evident pop-punk enthusiasts, reciprocated the elevated energy of the band, which ensured a steady, vibrant ambience. Being an all-ages gig, the ages of the crowd members ranged from 15- to 50-year-olds – yes, there were a few of you 50s hiding out in the crowd!
The biggest hits of the night were We Dance To A Different Disco, Honey and Planets. Throughout these songs the crowd were especially excitable. Before heading off the stage, Diviney emphasised that the band would in fact be coming back on for an encore, to avoid a repetition of the audience all leaving at their Sydney concert before the encore was played. Bursting with exponential energy, Short Stack blasted out one of their newest songs, Dance With Me. The audience, obviously familiar with this track, sang along in unison. Energy truly radiated through the venue and the band finished off with a promise to return to Adelaide next year for another epic show. The band took a selfie on stage with the audience, which ended the performance on a high note.
