Album Review: Serpentine Dominion - Serpentine Dominion

StarStarStarHalf Star

"The results feel fresh and vibrant, if hardly revolutionary."

More Serpentine Dominion Serpentine Dominion Profile

Several years in the making, Serpentine Dominion combines Killswitch Engage's goofball guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, Cannibal Corpse's George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher and journeyman drummer Shannon Lucas.

Initially, their debut LP may jar selected death metal purists, as Fisher grunts anti-corruption diatribes (penned by Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach) instead of slasher horror tales. His guttural tones contrasted with occasional spurts of Dutkiewicz's clean vocals may also be greeted by much wailing and wringing of hands. But the results feel fresh and vibrant, if hardly revolutionary. At a mere half-hour, Serpentine Dominion won't be reinvigorating the scene, but isn't doing it any harm either.
