Live Review: BIGSOUND LIVE: Seekae

Veteran electronic luminaries and BIGSOUND debutants Seekae prove the perfect people with whom to close out the evening's spread of live showcases, and it proves the perfect day for them to make their initial appearance at the conference, given it is co-founding member Alex Cameron's birthday.

Sure, the crowd offers up a hearty rendition of Happy Birthday, but it's Seekae that truly bring presents to the table tonight, executing a remarkably polished retrospective set - "remarkably" so, because one would assume it would be pretty difficult to control technical musical equipment surrounded by a thick fog of artificial smoke (side note, what is with smoke-machine operators at this conference? Just... pull back, guys).

Still, visibility issues aside, the Sydney trio bring to the table aural delights both new and, rewardingly for the faithful among the throng, old, such as when they drop reliable favourite Void towards the end of their performance, and as the crowd disperses into the evening to find their after-parties or, for a lucky few, beds, there's a tangible air of excitement - or maybe it's manic exhaustion - for the gamut of goodies on the cards tomorrow.
