"Kinda grating, kinda self-loathing and kinda genius."

More Sam Coomes More Sam Coomes

Remember that guy at the entrance of the Big Day Out in Sydney who played circus organ every year?

Well, his essence lives on in the latest from Sam Coomes, one half of indie legends Quasi, in his first album release as a solo artiste. It's a simple DIY creation sent straight to Domino, who packaged and released it with absolutely no frills. There's organ, a drum track and some epically tortured vocals; it's kinda grating, kinda self-loathing and kinda genius work. Shined It On / Lobotomy Eggs and the title track are standouts.
