Album Review: Oisima - Nicaragua Nights

"This saxophone-led LP features a diverse range of tracks with a virtuosic coffee-table jazz feel"

Electronic music is a fickle mistress.

With giants such as Bonobo, Tycho and Shlohmo out there it’s important to be touting strong material and at times Adelaide producer and multi-instrumentalist Oisima can be comfortably in their ball park. This saxophone-led LP features a diverse range of tracks with a virtuosic coffee-table jazz feel. Collaborative tracks with Annabel Weston are dreamy, injecting soul and R&B into the minimal layering that forms what is a trip hop adventure. Unfortunately the inclusion of a rap verse on Missin’ You Now brings the otherwise conceptual actualisation down a peg or two.
