"She’s modernised the form and does the entire show ad-lib."
Who knew ventriloquism was still a thing? Nina Conti is the only one we’ve seen lately that we haven’t thought was a bit outdated.
She’s modernised the form and does the entire show ad-lib; never the same twice. Sometimes simple, clean humour is the best and when that fails, her crass, unapologetic hand-puppet monkey fills in the blanks. When Monk the monkey gets tired, she turns audience members into ventriloquist puppets by making them wear movable masks. They then become her puppets, acting out her suggestions as she brings them to life with absurd voices. And sometimes they turn on her as well, making for unpredictable, original comedy.
