"He had the audience captivated, he just needed the confidence to take us on that journey into his brain."
2015 RAW Comedy Finalist Nicholas Huntley gets up on stage, embellishes a little and then invites his mate to get up as a warm-up act.
When Huntley returns, he explains he now needs to introduce himself. It's an entertaining awkwardness that dominates his set from start to finish. One liners, audience involvement and generally berating his mother — who is in the crowd — all feature heavily in this set. Where The Great Diptator's theme — social standing explained through dips (the material that got him to the finals of RAW last year) — actually fits in is a bit unclear. You can almost see his brain working, trying to avoid the tangents that each of his stories could evoke. This is disappointing because he had the audience captivated, he just needed the confidence to take us on that journey into his brain — the one we all wanted to go on.
