This debut album from Nashville-based artist Natalie Prass is stunning.

Recorded with some three dozen other instrumentalists, the album is lush with string arrangements and bright horn sections. The songwriting is remarkably assured, Prass having worked on some of these songs for up to six years. Her voice has been described as that of an emancipated Disney princess, a description nowhere more fitting than on It Is You, a head-over-heels love song inspired by Punch-Drunk Love. She draws references from Dolly Parton on Christy, while My Baby Don’t Understand Me captures the resigned disenchantment of a Salinger novel.
