Mixing the old with the new, this eerie electronic offering revels in its scrappy, lo-fi production while presenting something quite unusual. Evoking the feeling of a late night out-of-body experience, Reel consists of three explorative, substantial tracks, plus two original remixes of the grooving, tribal High On Life. The second of these, CHSTRBNKS' remix, works as a darkly successful, beat-heavy dance track. This is supreme mood music with a heavy emphasis on guttural sounds that are both earthy and otherworldly. The release's repetitive brand of minimalism may bore some, however.
