Album Review: Moving Pictures - Picture This

StarStarStar

"Picture This has the band back together with a more folk-based thread and each song tells a little vignette."

Moving Pictures found success back in the '80s and this album finds them back with a swag of new and old songs. Picture This has the band back together with a more folk-based thread and each song tells a little vignette.

Singer Alex Smith, who still sings like an angel, is busy cramming lyrics into these songs that are jam-packed with detail. Travellers Tales is typical of the way the band conjure up images of a different time and place to transport the listener to another world. Their version of Springsteen's Born To Run fits perfectly into the oeuvre and probably best shows their inspiration. They have included a version of What About Me, which, of course, was their big hit. This version proves they have still got it.
