You don't hear hip-hop like this anymore... US pioneer MC and amazing poet MF DOOM is teaming up with rapper/producer JNEIRO JAREL for a brand new project that the duo are dubbing JJ DOOM. They have a debut album scheduled to be released in May thanks to Lex Records and Inertia called Key To The Cuffs and we have a preview for your ears.

'Banished' is the first single off the record and it's sounding very true to the dirty, gritty, MPC-pots-and-pans MF DOOM production style that we've fallen in love with over the years (however a little bassier than normal). The lyrics are also of a very high standard; super jazzy, poetic and completely flawless.

If you're not familiar with Jarel's stuff he's worked with a wide range of artists including Damon Albarn (Gorillaz/Blur), Khujo Goodie, Massive AttackTV On The Radio, Madlib and Dangermouse. He has also spent the last few years working as MF DOOM's tour DJ - have a listen to this mix he did for Anne Hobbs BBC Radio 1 show back in 2009, it still sounds so relevant today.
