"'Reflections' feels like an instrumental journey through various emotional landscapes."
They may have been around for more than a decade now, but Sydney's post-rock flag-bearers Meniscus are still going boldly forward with an optimistic spirit that shines all the way through Refractions.
From the widescreen vision of the opening Doom, Refractions feels like an instrumental journey through various emotional landscapes, with some beautiful flowing acoustic work - such as the almost sensuous picking on Fingers - in between steroid-fuelled guitar riffs. Hopefully this will glean some overdue attention for Meniscus in today's comparatively post-rock friendly environment.
