With three solo albums already under his belt, in addition to the multiple side projects he's been involved with, it should come as no surprise that American singer and producer Mayer Hawthorne's latest album is exquisitely produced.

After moving to Vagrant Records in order to maintain control over his music, the soul singer has doubled-down on all his signature features. Fancy Clothes and Book Of Broken Hearts recall the syncopated crooning of Hall & Oates, while Breakfast In Bed seems to be ripped straight out of Prince's recent catalogue. Despite these populist reference points, and at times even because of them, Man About Town rarely feels like its own self.
