Album Review: Maroon 5 - V

Maroon 5’s fifth album is where The Nicest Bloke In Pop™, Adam Levine, finally transforms into Jon Bon Jovi, running his band like a cold, soulless business. Following a tried and tired recipe of chucking electronic-pop, soul and an almost patronising smack of hip hop beats in to spice things up into a musical Thermomix, V is overcooked by a massive roster of guest writers. Things rarely rise above blandly forgettable, with an unpalatable cover of Sex And Candy and a duet with Gwen Stefani leaving one feeling very queasy indeed.
