Album Review: Magic Man - Before The Waves

StarStarStar

"It lacks the “Wow!” factor and standout tracks"

Magic Man’s second album is a mix of quirky playful electro-pop tracks that recalls the sound of the ‘80s.

Paris has a beautiful piano opening that moves into a heartfelt love story gone wrong while Tonight, Out Of Mind and Too Much feel like they belong in an ‘80s movie. Texas and Catherine are upbeat, fun, and will keep you dancing. Lead singer Alex Caplow has a beautiful deep voice that makes songs like Chicagoland dreamy. The album could have been something greater though. It lacks the “Wow!” factor and standout tracks.
