Lyla Foy's debut album, Mirrors The Sky, finds its groove immediately, but unfortunately never really budges from it. What starts out strongly, with an introspective, synth-folk flair, quickly becomes a sleepy meandering. It feels like every song on Mirrors The Sky is written in the key of beige, which is a shame given the strength of lead single, Feather Tongue. The album's saving grace lies in its layered rhythms and in the varied and complex textures strewn throughout, but it's not quite enough to hold rapt attention.
