...the first sounds from Vancouver Sleep Clinic's debut EP are truly beautiful.
You may have heard the name VANCOUVER SLEEP CLINIC a couple of months back. That would be because he was one of the finalists in this year's Triple J Unearthed High competition. Even though he didn't take out the win - he is still definitely going places.
It's not often you get compared to Bon Iver, let alone when you're 17... and from Brisbane. But yet, everywhere you look right now (yes, even overseas) - it's happening to this kid. We're not even going to argue with it. Vancouver Sleep Clinic is the adopted moniker of Tim Bettinson and it conjures up on imagery of long cold winters, isolation and remoteness. His brand new track ‘Collapse’ taken from his forthcoming debut EP, takes the influences of those dark corners inside the human mind and weaves them throughout his soundscape.

After months of writing on random maths books, whiteboards and bedroom walls; and recording with scattered cheap microphones, an old laptop and an outdated keyboard - the first sounds from Vancouver Sleep Clinic’s debut EP are truly beautiful. With a combination of soaring falsetto and synthetic instrumentation - Bettinson has created a world of ambience for the listener to blissfully drift away into their own minds.
