Live Review: UV Boi 'T H A N K U' ft. Fionn Richards (Weakling Remix)

UV Boi's 'THANK U' gets the Weakling touch with this remix.

18 year old Brisbanite, UV BOI, has been dubbed as one of the freshest things to hit the electronic scene. With his flair for bass loaden and hip-hop laced production work, 'T H A N K U' featuring Fionn Richards is his most known and blogged offering to date.

Following the love for the track, 'T H A N K U' gets an over-haul by fellow sunshine-state representative, WEAKLINGWEAKLING subtracts the 'UV Boi' vocal sample from the start, immediately launching into a darker and late night vibe as the looming low end beat gives way.

With what the original had in its chilltronica shades, WEAKLING amplifies into a glitchy-realm of bass thuds that progressively come to full fruition, alongside the squirming and bouncy synths that prod the remix along. Those iPhone 'message' tones are still very well intact, so don't be fooled into checking your phone whilst listening.

The remix's chorus provides a clunky, dance breakdown and though this is the case, the smooth-tones of Richards' vocals maintains the calm flow of the tune's origins.
