There's something so irresistibly glorious about an unapologetic dance anthem. In a time where the electronic scene is so competitive and consistently trying to be more innovative than the next, there's something refreshing about a song that sounds timeless, like it could've come out five years ago or five years from now, and still make you get up out of your seat and mosh for your life. That's exactly what TORI LEVETT has given us in her beyond good 'Something Bad.'
Opening with a swooning ambient verse that lets you know something big is coming, soaring synths and an exhilarating beat swirl around you as Levett sings "I'm caving to what we had / I'm craving something bad" before absolutely erupting into one of the wildest chorus drops we've heard in 2018. You can visualise the smoke machines, the strobe lights and the bass vibrations that this song deserves.
From there, the song enters a stalking, late night mood that seems only fitting. Tori Levett lets you breathe for a moment and maybe grab a bottle of water as the track gets more complex and more meticulous. New synth lines are introduced as the rollercoaster starts again and the song explodes with even more energy than before. It's a wild ride that you simply won't want to get off.
From start to finish, 'Something Bad' proves that Tori Levett is a multi-talented force to be reckoned with. From her airy vocals to her thundering production, 'Something Bad' has club and festival anthem written all over it. It's a sound that is nostalgic, fresh and futuristic all at one - and if that's something bad, then best believe that we don't want to be good.
