Live Review: LISTEN: The Rapture, ‘Sail Away’ (Digitalism Remix)

COMIN ATCHA!!!! Digitalism have reworked The Rapture's 'Sail Away'. Jess Holton gives us the brief...

Spattering rain begins this track and falls upon the listeners as this remix of THE RAPTURE’s ‘Sail Away’ from their latest album, ‘In The Grace Of Your Love’ rolls onto shore.

The vocals are a stand out as a melancholic tone is set by DIGITALISM. Soon enough though, a galaxy is opened up, bursting pupils and opening minds into a field filled with electro flowers.

The combination of wailing and deep synth sounds complement each other nicely, providing the listener with the perfect mix of angst and ecstasy.

DIGITALISM do not disappoint in remixing this beautiful tune, combining their signature sound with skittish beats that stop and start, allowing THE RAPTURE to hold a dominant place. There doesn’t seem to be a clear drop in the remix, which suggests a departure from DIGITALISM’s previous works.

The constant motif of rain, doom and gloom is juxtaposed with the cooler-than-ice electro beats, leaving the listener oddly comforted by this remix.

This tune will make you laugh, cry, dance your little socks off and will whisper softly in your ear, “Don’t ever come down.” Wouldn’t that be nice?
