You most definitely would have heard of the wonderful NICHOLAS JAAR, who’s own original tracks just seem to fly off your screen and transport you to a world of total bliss.
His partner in crime, Dave Harrington also has a fair bit of musical knowledge behind him and when you blend both boys together, you get DARKSIDE, a production duo that just dominate their craft. The duo have created upbeat mixes for Modular Records who, incidentally, have also placed them on this year’s FOR Festival line up.
DARKSIDE have been on the road for quite a while, so when their latest remix project was released, it no doubt popped up in one or two of their live sets. The new remix is of a very defined track by songstress ST VINCENT called ‘Digital Witness’. ST VINCENT is one of the most popular pop artists of 2014 and remixing one of her tracks is no easy task.
DARKSIDE have opted to produce a slightly darker version of ST VINCENT’s track adding deep, distorted vocals that brood around the charging melody. The track has a lot of bite that pushes on with heated synths and heavy snare samples that stomp all the way through ‘Digital Witness’. You wouldn’t think this was a ST VINCENT track now that DARKSIDE have remixed it, they have given it a hard edge with their swirling synths making it sound just as digital as the name suggested.
