Kisschasy’s Darren Cordeux Finds His Way Home On ‘The Terrors Of Comfort’

Live Review: Sinkane 'Hold Tight'

Sinkane shares his first single off upcoming album 'Mean Love', the slow-funk track 'Hold Tight'.

Sudanese born and Brooklyn based Ahmed Gallab has an impressive resume as a multi-instrumentalist, having worked with YEASAYERCARIBOU and BORN RUFFIANS to name a few. But it's his solo project as SINKANE that's earned him a well-deserved musical reputation as a creative force.

Though his last album Mars was released all the way back in 2012, Gallab has kept himself busy, with his most recent venture seeing him take on the role of musical director for ATOMIC BOMB! The Music of William Onyeabor, where he brought on members of THE RAPTURE, HOT CHIP, LCD SOUNDSYSTEMBLOOD ORANGE and more.

With the upcoming album release of Mean Love - due out on September 2 on DFA RECORDS - Gallab shares his first new single, the track 'Hold Tight'. The track opens immediately on a sustained organ chord, preaching out as a simple drum pattern is introduced alongside a slinky bass line. Gallab's soul drenched vocals glide over his lines, with a touch of effortless falsetto here and there; 'Hold Tight' is a slow jam with flecks of funk throughout.
