17-year-old producer Shagabond has released his debut single through Die High records and I think you may need milk for this one.
When you find a track named after milk and cookies, you’d no doubt assume that it would be very sweet and easy to take in. WAX WITCHES did their own cookie themed track back in 2013 and SHAGABOND’s track ‘Milk / Cookies’ is luckily exactly how you thought it would be.
It seems the house scene just seems to adopt younger producers every year, and they guys over at Die High Records seem to have found a gem in 17-year-old SHAGABOND.
Julius Q began his career as SHAGABOND like most producers do, by practicing their craft in their room on their trusty laptops. On ‘Milk/Cookies’ we are told to 'get ready to dunk' and you won’t regret dunking your ears in his debut track. It’s apparent very early on in ‘Milk/Cookies’ that SHAGABOND has a keen ear for texture in his music. Mixing a series of light and soft synths, ‘Milk/Cookies’ is the new track that will soon be on plenty of easy listening playlists.

With delicate percussion building the frame of ‘Milk / Cookies’, SHAGABOND mixes his melody sounding calmingly magical and mesmerising. The slightly harder beat keeps the track grounded stopping it from completely flying away into a sweet trance that it may never come down from. With the added mystical elements of trickling synths and subtle tambourine jangles ‘Milk/Cookies’ definitely has all the makings of a cooler house track.
SHAGABOND has a heel of a lot coming for him if he is to continue producing work like this. Being so young, he will learn a lot over the next few years and soon he could be dominating the house scene so we better keep an eye on this one before he swoops past in a flash of enchanted melodies.
