Live Review: LISTEN: Samo Sound Boy 'Open'
LA's Samo Sound Boy has released the A-side from his forthcoming single release 'Open' / 'Divine'.
LA producer SAMO SOUND BOY has released his latest single 'Open' - the A-side to his recently announced 12" that is due to drop mid-March through his very own label Body High.
Taking on the persona of a warrior, a very rough and rigid melody breaks us into 'Open', giving us the deluxe tour of what the track is all about. Sour in it's nature, it walks ahead of us the entire way, leaving us chasing it curiously behind. Leading us into a puzzle of sounds, the melody storms through a myriad of heavy beats, tangled synths and mumbled vocals. Towards the end though, this melody is replaced by a collection of cold and eerie sounds and sees 'Open' lean towards a slightly intergalactic theme.
To sum up the seven minute journey, Samo Sound Boy's 'Open' balances out to be a well-equipped, articulate deep-house marathon.
