MK (short for Mark Kinchen) is the Los Angeles-local responsible for a huge well of deep house tunes that you've probably heard time in, time out at your favourite inner city clubs. Keeping his cred level high, MK has thrown out yet another killer remix into the web for all those DJs worldwide to get their hands dirty with.
This time the producer has focused his remixing talents on SAM SMITH's 'Money On My Mind'. Combining euphoric house pianos and nostalgic percussions, MK wraps up SAM SMITH's larger than life vocal stylings into a light and simple house track, a tune that feels equally at home in the depths of a low-light club, out in the sun from atop a festival stage, or even for the backyard by the pool.
The piano chord progression pretty much stays intact throughout the entirety of the track, keeping the track propelled forward, the real variety comes from the way MK cuts up and rearranges SAM SMITH's vocals.
The track borders on cliche house vibes, but that's okay because the track isn't over shooting it's mark. It's knows what it is and plays to that advantage, a simple yet playful pop house track - something that will resonate within many DJ sets around the globe in the coming months.
