Vancouver dude ROOK MILO has slowly and assuredly risen from the internet mass of producers to watch, with a foundation in hip-hop/RNB when it comes to harnessing a sound of his own. Now, the 22-year-old has released the first track from his forthcoming EP with brand MMVIII, the tune 'Bodyroll'.
ROOK MILO's discography has a running theme of mellowed out low end beats and brooding synths, with 'Bodyroll' not being exempt from this template. With its skittish percussion hits, ethereal effects and reverberating female vocals, 'Bodyroll' is as slinky as the title suggests.
If there's one thing apparent from ROOK MILO's production style, it's an understated attitude. A gutsy 'tude for that matter. Probably the same type that led to him remixing DRAKE and leaving 'thanks to my drug dealer for makin this all possible' as a description. You know what DRAKE says though...#yolo.
'Bodyroll' has none of that rollercoaster, space-height climaxes and earth-core drops, nor does it have that get-out-of-my-face-seriously epileptic fits of electro diarrhea; this is definitely one to file under 'late night groove'.
