Whenever a new GIRAFFAGE tune surfaces, you know your ears are in for a damn good treat. San Francisco man Charlie Yin who has made a name for himself under his producer-moniker of GIRAFFAGE has consistently been serving up top-quality originals and remixing tracks from the likes of JANET JACKSON, Australian darling OWL EYES and so much more.
With no surprises here, the producer brings the goods yet again with his take on the anthemic R.KELLY classic, 'Ignition Remix' (does this make it 'Ignition Remix²' ? ) . If your thoughts have immediately jumped to "What? Remix 'Ignition Remix? You don't remix 'Ignition Remix'!", you're right - it's almost sacrilege to remix (again) such a song.
If there's anything to be learnt here, though, it's to have a little faith, particularly in GIRAFFAGE. With it's scattering of synths, bubbly pulse of keys and the appearance of bass in the chorus, you can still get your low-groove on ala original style.
This remix takes a classic and turns it into an all new, summer-hit contender. With also a new EP set for release later in the year through Fool's Gold, it sure is happy days at camp GIRAFFAGE.
