Who ever thought that Tuesday’s could be so great? There are definitely some good vibes emanating from Vancouver producer, PAT LOK’s, newest track, ‘Needy’.
Released via label MANI/PEDI, the track actually features on his newly-released EP of the same title. Featuring a radio edit, the original mix and two remixes from EKALI and ROBOTAKI, the EP works to highlight pointed segments of this particular track.
The six-minute ride coasts along different fronts, working its way from nu-disco to dance and electronica. It begins with a catchy vocal hook, a satisfying beat and a synth that works hard to sound almost lazy, – but a kind of sunny-day-lazy, like you’re purposefully trying to enjoy yourself. The track progresses into a more dance-electronic sound with the introduction of a sequence of keyboard chords, and thus, inviting in sunny sounds and bright tones, which dot the remainder of the song.
For quite a physically long track, it doesn’t really feel so long. The parameters of the sound are constantly shifting, and it’s kind of hard to put a definitive finger on the exact whereabouts of the type of sound being achieved. It’s really cool though, to hear something that’s consistently fueled by change.
