Rah rah rah remixes ruin the original rah rah. Fuck that. As recent a fan as I am of PACES, I love his work, so as soon as I saw that he remixed Parachute Youth, I knew that this would be good.
Paces has established himself as an artist to look out for. While many artists struggle to create a signature sound, this is a natural process for Paces -- you can hear it in each and every song, which neither reek or effort nor sound half-assed. It's hard to explain what the entire 'Paces' feel is when I have no clue what I'm talking about when I talk about music, but it's unmistakable when you listen to 'Can't Get Better (Paces Remix)'. It's atmospheric, but it definitely has a beat. You can immerse yourself in all the layers, but it doesn't follow that trendy chillwave sound.
Anyone complaining that Paces has ruined the original song is missing the point. He takes 'Can't Get Better' and completely remakes it as his own -- it's barely recognisable as a Parachute Youth remix, because it's now a Paces song. Above all, however, this is just a fucking excellent track. Check it out below:
