Melbourne-born, LA-based pop artist Banoffee has shared a new EP featuring key remixes from her debut EP, featuring Nina Las Vegas.
After releasing her debut album, ‘Look At Us Now Dad’, earlier this year, Melbourne-born, LA-based pop artist Banoffee has shared a new EP featuring key album remixes, one of which, ‘Tennis Fan’, is expertly commandeered by Australian club music legend and label head, Nina Las Vegas.
“[T]hey’re all versions of my work done by people who inspired the work in the first place,” Banoffee said in a statement explaining the importance of the remix project to her. “I’ve always felt really inhibited by the finality of albums, and how you have to choose what a song’s identity is and stick with it. These reworks give my songs their ‘sliding door’ moment.”
Nina Las Vegas’ delicate production style harmonises joyfully with Banoffee’s style of leftfield pop on ‘Tennis Fan’. Rubbery, metallic synthesisers and a heavy, catchy Jersey club beat dance alongside playful lyrics, retaining Banoffee’s idiosyncratic stylistic choices with a touch of NLV flair, leaving you wanting more. It’s spacious, warm club music that packs a punch without being bro-y - a perfect example of what both artists seek to espouse in their music.
