Chicago's MONTE BOOKER is a producer with an extremely great eye for detail. Working within the realms of funk, soul and R'n'B, he's just dropped his short but sweet single, 'No No' (lending lyricism from Future's, 'Never Gon Lose').
A poised marimba adorns the space, blissfully following a pattern without any concern for its forthcoming neighbourly engagements. Whilst clarity survives this feature, an incoherent vocal tracks itself alongside, transferred as if communicating through a megaphone. Interrupted by a series of other voices weighing in on the plea, the same treatment is depicted in the composition; for an amalgamation of syncopated beats snap about, fighting for superiority.
Cutting, reshaping and adding components along the way, 'No No' governs a series of instruments from all different families. It is through this, the variety of techniques utilised, and the diversity of textures that sees Monte Booker carefully avoid overcompensating in, 'No No'.
