Live Review: LISTEN: Melodys Echo Chamber 'Crystallized'

If 'Crystallized' is anything to go by, Melodys Echo Chamber’s psych-pop sound is one that will be sweeping the world.

Recorded and mixed with Tame Impala’s Kevin Palmer, MELODYS ECHO CHAMBER's newest gem has influences ranging from fuzzy psychedelic rock to warm hypnotic pop. Somehow it all blends together effortlessly to form something simultaneously heavy, driving and soothing. This may have something to do with the track being created on both sides of the globe, in Perth and at a French beach house. Or, you know, it could just be the first of many works of genius from the Paris-based artist.

Irrespective of its origins, this track is a "doozy." From the rolling static to the sensual vocals, it’s a pleasure to hear everything fall into place. True to its eclectic beginnings and conception, a mind-bending guitar riff replaces the innocent female vocals towards the end of the track, and it complements what has come before. It’s like beauty and the beast, except the beast is a motherfucking killer guitar line rising from the bowels of an erupting volcano.

If 'Crystallized' is anything to go by, Melodys Echo Chamber’s psych-pop sound is one that will be sweeping the world, from outback ‘Straya to chic Paris, with 'Crystallized' getting an official release later this year. Get excited.

Words by Michael Ouzas.
