Live Review: Lunice 'Can't Wait To'

Lunice makes a solid comeback with his solo track, 'Can't Wait To', taken from a forthcoming debut release set to drop later in the year.

Up until recently, it's all been a bit quiet on the LUNICE front. The Montreal-based producer/DJ was otherwise known as the one half of production duo TNGHT alongside Glaswegian HUDSON MOHAWKE - with the pair announcing their indefinite hiatus back in 2013 in pursuit of their solo careers.

Now, LUNICE makes a solid comeback with his latest solo offering, 'Can't Wait To'. This is supposedly the first single taken from his upcoming debut release, set to drop later in the year through LuckyMe.

With the hard-hitting traits of past collaborations and co-produced works, LUNICE sets his own pace this time around and further builds a reputation as a producer on his own right.

Deceivingly subdued, the track is a tight package of stuttering, endlessly manipulated vocal samples that are a-top a beatbox-esque foundation. There's a slight underlying tension that doesn't go a miss, courtesy of the scattered touches of effects, adding an atmospheric layer alongside the dense bass-line. If more tunes such as this one is what awaits listeners with LUNICE's debut release, then patient we will have to be.
