Lojack (aka Tom Anderson) has returned with 'Weak', another pulsing track of trap and future bass and his first solo track in a year.
At just 22 years old, the Melbourne-based producer has racked up praise for tracks like 'From You' with Hier and 'Ember' with Mitsunami which were dropped last year. He's not only been featured heavily on Triple J Unearthed, but internationally on BBC Radio 1 and Noisia Radio. He's also toured around the country with Goldlink, QUIX and Holly.
'Weak' pleases straight out of the gate, with some heavily reverberated vocals quickly melting into quite possibly the warbliest (a word I just made up) and most dizzying synth line I think I've ever heard. Gorgeous vocals from an unnamed vocalist dance alongside these synths before a subdued piano bridge leads to a pounding chorus, delivering the bass-heavy trap goodness we expect from Lojack. It's a shame the vocalist isn't mentioned or credited, because her voice truly makes this track shine, so we'll just have to hope she makes her identity known in another way soon. Texture-wise, it's a simple track that focuses almost minutely on production, ensuring every element is tuned just right to ensure maximum ground-shaking and body-moving in any situation.
With every track showing an evolution of Lojack's experimentation with trap and future bass, 'Weak' is a sign of great things ahead not only for the young artist, but Australia's electronic scene.
