Boys from Queens, LEWIS DEL MAR, have embarked on a journey of experimental pop proportions, combining the elements of all things pleasing to the ears to create the sometimes smooth, sometimes jolting track ‘Malt Liquor’.
Lewis Del Mar flew onto radars in 2015 with their first single ‘Loud(y)’. Following on from this they dropped their debut EP in Jan, and now they have released ‘Malt Whiskey’, the track we are here to talk about.
The duo consists of Danny Miller and Max Harwood, who have played around with a lot of styles and sounds together before creating Lewis Del Mar. They have known each other since the ripe old age of nine, and have a musical synergy that is not easy to come by.
Like a shot of straight liquor, the track catches in places, and jars, before smoothing out between guitar riffs and varying percussion sounds. It has a warm and yet industrial vibe, playing homage to their home of New York City. The vocals have a sexy kind of feel to them, showing the other side to the city. It creates a harmonious combination of electronica and acoustic.
