Live Review: PREMIERE: Leopard Lake get metaphysical on 'Heart Of Yours'

Perth electro-pop duo LEOPARD LAKE return today with a new offering, their first of the new year. It follows their self-titled debut EP which came to us last year, and today, we're stoked to be premiering the next phase of Leopard Lake.

'Heart Of Yours' details an inherently human struggle; the eternal fight between the mind and the heart. What started out as a phone demo for months, then became something that producer Sam pieced together in the studio. The beat of the track mimicking a beating heart was an intentional decision, and one that works in stead with the metaphysical nature of the track.

The track's narrative fights a duality; the first part detailing an internal struggle of a drunken mind and then the second, letting go and moving on.

The production ties chopped and skewed strings with a beautifully melancholy piano, and as the track progresses, it eventuates into a haven of arpeggiated synths, all the while accented by the duality of the two voices on the track.

Of the track, vocalist Storm, said "'Heart of Yours' is about trying to shed the past. Being reborn, in a new life. We slowed down one of the vocal tracks to sound somewhat otherworldly to give a different voice, like a duet but all in one person’s head."
