Kindness creates a dark and haunting cover of Solange's Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work'.
Kindness and Solange go together like pees in a pod - both aficionados for old school, delicate R'n'b, the pair are currently working together on Solange's upcoming EP. So it's no surprise then when Kindness comes out and drops a unique Solange cover on his SoundCloud page.
The original track comes from Solange's 2012 EP True - a stark pop record that finally saw Bey's sis get the credit she deserves.
'Some Things Never Seem To Fucking Work' is definitely a standout track in Solange's back catalogue. The airy, tropical-esque track is an ode to failed relationships and accepting that failure. Yet Kindness takes the carefree vibes of the original tunes and turns it on its head, churning out a more darker, pensive tone.

Almost gothic in its approach, Kindness' cover buries cold industrial beats under the singer's overwhelming vocal presence. Sounding like the lead singer of some 80s post punk band, the song's message gets twisted into a wallowing pit of self-pity; dwelling on love gone awry. It's the stuff Robert Smith's tears are made of .
Kindness spent last year putting on album Otherness that featured a ton of his famous music buddies including Dev Heynes, Kelela and Robyn. The album was 11 songs emotive pop balladry, that whilst thoughtful and reflective, was never as dark as where Kindness' takes his music in this Solange cover.
Yet the change of pace is welcomed, with the cover showing that Kindness may be taking his signature r'n'b pop sound to a different, darker arena.
