IYES have promised a three part EP series to ears, and with ‘Beautiful Mess’ as their latest offering from Part Two, our ears are getting very, very excited for whatever else it may be they have in store.

IYES, the brainchild of Brighton born Josh Christopher and Melis Soyaslanová, now call musical mecca, Berlin their home. Maybe it’s this influence that lead to the grungy sounds in ‘Beautiful Mess’.

The track is very synth heavy. It’s a harsh type of synth, however the track is filled with many other sounds to compliment the idea of a beautiful mess; many elements, normally jarring, blurring together as one.

It’s an interesting contrast between the male and female vocals. Christopher provides a dark, confusing element to the song, All elements sound like a mess from the lyrics, to the jarring sound. Soyaslanová comes in with angelic vocals, wanting the beautiful mess.

IYES understands both the constraints of pop music, and the artistic freedom electronic music allows. ‘Beautiful Mess’ is just another piece to their ever-growing puzzle.

Keep an eye out for the release of Part Three, it will be released by their label Love By Mistake.
