Live Review: PREMIERE: Guerre 'Tuk'

Guerre has released a new track 'Tuk', the second single from his debut album 'Ex Nihilo', out July 4 through Yes Please Records and Remote Control Records.

Sydney based artist GUERRE has released a new track entitled 'Tuk', the second single from his debut album 'Ex Nihilo', out July 4 through Yes Please Records and Remote Control Records.

The track is complex and intricate with synth detailing that could be described as musical origami. Folded neatly, and yet produced in such a way that seems jarring. Guerre's soft vocals are applied in a lullaby style as they echo out into the atmosphere. Searing synth and jolted percussion somehow sound smooth and inviting.

Elements of Drum and Bass are trickled into the mix while the keys are made to sound like an elaborate and beautiful string section. Guerre's vocals stand on their own as an instrument of his own making. With clouded high pitched warbling and foggy bass, 'Tuk' is eccentric in the most enticing way possible.

This is just a mere tasting of a small morsel of what is to come on July 4. Counting down the days seems a bit benign, so until then I will just count the amount of times I play this track and fall further and deeper down the rabbit hole.
