DIPLO has released a neat remix that has no doubt been simmering around his music library just waiting to be released into the big wide world.
The track is called 'Will Calls' and is one of the B-sides featured on the expanded edition of GRIZZLY BEAR's most recent album Shields. Now the original record may have come out a while ago, but the band have a little system where they delay the release of tracks that didn't make the album's final cut.
Shields was regarded as one of 2012's best releases, and it was. It was a fantastic album and to have the B-sides and demos released now in 2013, kind of gives you a peek into how GRIZZLY BEAR pick and mix tracks.
Introducing his signature skitty synths to an otherwise sombre GRIZZLY BEAR track, DILPO has created a wistful dance number that stays quite true to the original mission statement. The band's vocalist Edward Droste's vocals echo through each verse before DIPLO's hip-hop infused synths take over during the chorus and breaks the track into two different, yet somehow similar sections.
Hearing GRIZZLY BEAR and DIPLO's signature sound being melded together in a remix is something quite extraordinary. You's never expect something like this to emerge, however it's good that it did because it's a great remix showing that DIPLO can still turn any track into a banger.
