This year we've seen Montreal producer Robotaki gain some serious love over his sparkling original tracks; first with 'Ghostboy' and then with 'Right Time' ft Ari. But before these tracks hit our air waves and before all the hype he received from the likes of Dillon Francis, Duke Dumont and The Chainsmokers, Robotaki was praised for his bootleg remixes. And now he's answered all our prayers by returning to his old school talent, releasing a remix of Gigamesh's 'History'.
A vocal focused intro is lifted lightly through trickling samples that starts off relatively tame before, in classic Robotaki style, outrageous synths and low back beats create a whirlwind of electronica. Light samples linger in the background of the track, so subtly you're taken on a journey without even realising the destination.
Robotaki's remix is a seamless transition through dramatic pauses and anticipated drops that will have you replacing everything on your playlist with nothing but his extensive list of releases. The chosen samples are something quite extraordinary, transforming Gigamesh's original funk-filled track into a whole other dimension of boogie material.
