If you take one part SYD, a dash of JORJA SMITH, a sprinkle of CLAIRO, a few dollops of KAYTRANADA and just a hint of ANDERSON. PAAK, you might end up somewhere near Gold Coast artist DVNA. Over a smooth, head-bopping beat that combines Rhodes with silky bass and off-kilter drum patterns, her voice absolutely glides like honey, serving you up a perfect slice of her sound for her debut single.

Titled 'Girl On The Move', its soulful pop sounds are divine. Crafted entirely at her kitchen bench, 'Girl On The Move' transports you to a wide open road, driving with the wind in your hair as the sunsets, and doubles as a metaphor for the fact that with this song, DVNA is absolutely going places. Infusing the innate pop sensibilities of her vocals with production inspired by the likes of THE INTERNET or KAYTRANDADVNA has struck musical gold with this debut.

With a few shows scheduled for the end of the year, DVNA has arrived as a late favourite for my pick of new artists for 2018. Having already supported the likes of GOLDEN VESSEL and ASHA JEFFERIESDVNA is on the move and headed straight for the top.
