Sydney musician, Eugene Ward, is incredibly affluent and organised when it comes to juggling his various artistic pursuits. Since offloading his Dern Work EP under his Tuff Sherm moniker with Patch Free, he's revisited the DRO CAREY project for the first time since his Club Injury Handbook EP, by dropping brand new single, 'Grow Lithe'.
A pensive unit interrupts the warm off-cuts of an antiquated format, its suspicious demeanour safeguarded by its refined polish. Speeding up as the wheel reinvents, the childlike curiosity teases striding percussion, and eventually corners these disciplined contemporaries into a well of intolerance. It's due to this tormenting persistence that we experience a vast array of industrial characters relaying with one another, all whilst the youthful melodic persona watches, follows and reinterprets the motions of such heavy machinery the entire way through.
Enduring a quiet moment with a senior, chesty flute, 'Grow Lithe' regains momentum by the conclusion of its enterprise; its maturity finally substantial in that these forces learn to connect and effectively utilise the rebounding strengths of each other.
Mechanical, visual and offering room for interpretation, Dro Carey once again flexes his prolific production skills to engulf us within this articulate narrative.
