It's been about six months since the illusive dreadlocked shoegazer DREAM KOALA has been seen with a new track, and just out of the blue he gives us what we've all been waiting for - and for free download too.
Not much can be found out about this 19 year old producer. To a degree, he keeps a firm hold on his anonymity when it comes to his musical alias. There is no real name, nor specific location given to DREAM KOALA (his soundcloud states that he is located in both Berlin and Paris). Honestly, this state of privacy is a reflection of his music - withheld, quiet and dark.
The track 'ODYSSEY' is a haunting shoegaze endeavour. Coated in a thick veil of reverb, juxtaposed with deep electronic drums, clicking percussionisms and tender vocals. 'ODYSSEY' evolves seamlessly over it's 6 minute lifespan from a quiet and contained nature, to a dense haziness layered in distortion before returning to it's origins.
Without a current announcement for a next release we'll have to be tided over by the comforting news that DREAM KOALA has just announced via his Facebook page that he has just received storyboards for the ODYSSEY music video. Fingers crossed it comes soon...
