Since releasing 'Alice' - the first single to come from the sophomore release, DICK DIVER have built more anticipation for Calendar Days as they've just presented us with their second single 'Water Damage' before they release the album next month!
The Melbournian four-piece are definitely aiming to please with the follow up record to their 2011 LP, New Start Again.
From the punchy flair of 'Alice' to this dreamy, jangly extraordinare made up of multi-layered guitars and a back-and-forth throw of lyrics between drummer Steph Hughes and guitarist Rupert Edwards, I'm sure I'm not the only one keen to unveil what the entire record has to offer.
The angelic instrumentation ironically emits a really solemn vibe. It's one of those tunes that requires a response of mixed-emotions. You enjoy listening to it purely due to how lovely and humble the song is aesthetically, yet it's tendency to make you want to just lie around and mope about your personal inconsistencies is unexplainable and almost a little unfair.
Just like the debut, Calendar Days was recorded by Mikey Young (of Total Control and Eddy Current Suppression Ring) at a beach house on Phillip Island in Winter of last year. After waiting two years since their debut full-length, Calendar Days will be available physically and digitally as of 16th March via Chapter Music.
Dick Diver will also be releasing a split vinyl single with Lower Plenty. It will be released as a part of Matador Records' 2013 singles club series. Although it's to feature on the new record, you can grab a digital copy of 'Water Damage' from Dick Diver's BANDCAMP for just one dollar.
