When it comes down to it, Confidence Man are going to keep soaring whether you like it or not and 'Don't You Know I'm In A Band' is the proof.
CONFIDENCE MAN have spent the past year or so completely polarising the world. Their brash, energetic electro-pop isn't for everyone, but those who know - know. They've given new meaning to 'divide and conquer' as Janet Planet and Sugar Bones have absolutely demolished stages across the globe with their choreography, their charisma and, well, their confidence. And that confidence has never shone brighter than in their latest single, 'Don't You Know I'm In A Band'.
While all their previous singles have had Janet Planet steer this non-stop party ship, the wheel is now handed over to the effortlessly cool Sugar Bones as he professes just how cool this unstoppable band is. Over a stalking and sassy beat, Sugar Bones lists off the seemingly endless perks of being in a band. "Always a place for me in the VIP / Drinks are always flowing and I'm smiling because the drugs are free," Bones says as you can practically envision his wry smile form across his face.
Confidence Man's ever-expanding appeal is their careful tip-toeing between self-aware and satirical. The wacky, Wonka-like chorus of this song is anchored by the repetition of "Don't you know I'm in a band?" which lends to the glorious pisstake of people who think they're the stuff simply because they're in a band.

"We wrote this song for people who think they’re really cool just because they’re in a band," Janet Planet says of the track, "People like us."
“Don’t you know? Didn’t you know?" Sugar Bones adds. "Well if you didn’t know by now you should do your homework. Being in a band is the coolest and it ain’t ever gonna change.”
When it comes down to it, Confidence Man are going to keep soaring whether you like it or not and 'Don't You Know I'm In A Band' is the proof. And if you're hating? Well that's too bad because they can't hear you all the way in VIP. They're tipped to release their debut album, Confident Music for Confident People, which is out April 13 (pre-order here).
