In another epic compilation showcasing some of the best up-and-coming producers the four corners of the world has to offer, well-versed music selectors clipp.art have just released their second addition of SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD TIME. Through its diverse collection of tracks, it proves to be a winding journey through the uncharted genres of electronic music serving up elements of bass house and skitzy acid, with a generous dollop of hip-hop and brass.
With 17 stand-up, original mixes from some stand-up producers on the bill, the selection is jam-packed with dance orientated and forward-pushing bass, honing popular sounds from the depths of the globe’s sweatiest and darkest clubs.
Highlights include HALVARDAN + KAYROY’s 'Mantovani I', a hard-hitting, dense percussion trip that flies through the intergalactic world of acid. Beginning with heavy bass, the beat sidles off into an expansive orchestral section before succumbing to a Caribbean inspired percussion, intertwining acidic elements with spacey house. STACEY SEXTON’s 'DANTE' is next. It’s a jittery track, akin to a song you’d find on the soundtrack of a sci-fi thriller. Fast-paced with cutting basslines and moody synth, its experimental nature divulges a dystopian reality, ending with bouncy bass, and echoing vocal cuts throughout.

A final standout track is that of DJ MAYBE’s ‘Chief Rocka’, which is one of the more playful cuts on the compilation. With a solid brass selection being its main component, the track twists elements of hip-hop around melodic house. Nice builds, a steady beat and catchy vocal samples, what more could you want?
Standouts aside, clipp.art’s latest compilation also includes works from other talented producers including NINA, MIKE NOLAN, OMAR GXIOLA, OLIVIER VERHAEGHE, RICKY O, DJ NERDIBOY, DEVANT, FOURWAYS, TILSUN and more.
SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD TIME II is a carefully constructed compilation that hones in on house and acid with an approach that never feels too serious, but is brilliantly executed.
clipp.art aim to release a new selection of tracks from a wide array of producers weekly/ bi-weekly. Known for throwing some raucous parties alongside such great DJ’s as ROSS FROM FRIENDS, OPTIMO, DEMUJA and DJ BORING, their focus on giving face to lesser-known artists too is one to celebrate.
