The whacked out characters known as YACHT CLUB DJs have decided to put their own spin on BLEEDING KNEES CLUB, and fans of the latter, beware. This may not be for you.
For me, YACHT CLUB's reworking of 'Girls Can Do Anything' was tantamount to restoring an old car. You keep the fundamental components of the original but replace anything that doesn't work. In this case, that was pretty much everything. BKC's original tune is on the scrap-heap, replaced with a super-charged, V12, racing-stripe bat-mobile.
This intense, electro-fied enigma zoops and zaps all over the place, with glitchy, interstellar sound effects bleeping and blerping over rattling percussion. The only remaining element of BKC's tune is Alex Wall's vocals, which still gets the treatment by way of YACHT CLUB's trademark tom-foolery.
It might take a few listens, but this track definitely grows on you.
